The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) conducts operations at sea all through the year intending to protect the maritime interests of India. Also, this multi-mission institution has the responsibility of enforcing maritime law, having jurisdiction over the territorial waters of the country. The Government of India set up the ICG during the year 1978. Also, ICG is an independent armed force of the country and comes under the Ministry of Defence. Jobs with the ICG come under the purview of the central government defense jobs. Note that the various ICG job vacancies have different eligibility criteria. Thus, the candidates must study the stipulated norms before applying. Indian Coast Guard Jobs: Sailor Positions
The applicants can apply for Sailor (General Duty) positions with the ICG. Upon selection, the candidates receive basic professional training at sea at INS Chilka. Then, depending on their performance during training, they are allocated branches and trades.

To be eligible for Sailor positions with the ICG, the applicant should secure 50% aggregate marks during their 10+2 standard exams. Also, mandatorily, they have to score at least 50% in Physics and Maths subjects from accredited educational boards. Further, they have to be in the age group of 18-22 years to be eligible for the Sailor posts.
Indian Coast Guard Jobs: Selection Rounds
A written examination is, first, held for the selection of candidates for Sailor positions. The test contains objective-type questions. The questions are based on subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, English, and Maths. Further, the exam sections comprise of quantitative aptitude, current affairs, general knowledge, and reasoning. The results of the candidates, following the written exam, are uploaded on the official website. The selected candidates are, then, invited for Physical Fitness exams, Medical Tests, among other rounds. The ICG examiners, also, conduct the document-verification rounds as part of the screening process. Thereafter, the final merit list is released, containing the names of the shortlisted candidates.
Indian Coast Guard Jobs: Application Process
To apply for ICG Sailor positions, the applicants have to submit online applications via the official website.
First, they must study the different job notifications.
Next, if they want to apply to any of the given positions, they should select the ‘Apply Online’ tab that pertains to the vacancy.
They can, then, download the Online Application Form. Follow by filling in the required particulars in the form.
Additionally, the candidates are required to upload scanned copies of the requisite documents on the website in the prescribed format. Tendering the Application Fee is compulsory too.
After completing the above-mentioned formalities, they must review their applications to check if any changes are needed. If yes, they should make the required changes.
Now, proceed by clicking the ‘Submit’ tab, after which the system directs them to the ‘Confirmation/Acknowledgment’ page.
